Who selected these people?

From RTE.

The greatest Irish person ever? There are 40 nominees, three of whom are women. Three? The three included are Mary Robinson, Sonia O Sullivan and Adi Roche. The list does not include:

Constance Markievicz
Grace O Malley
Fionnula Flanagan
Lady Augusta Gregory
Edna O Brien
Dame Alice Kyteler
Sinead O Connor
Enya
Dervla Murphy
Catherine Tynan
Deirdre O Kane
Kathleen Clarke
Pauline McLynn
Nano Nagle
Nuala Fennell
Mary McAleese
Brigid of Kildare
Catherine Hayes
Samantha Mumba
Dervla Kirwan
Fiona O'Shaughnessy
Queen Meadb of Connaught
Nuala O'Faolain
Cecelia Ahern
Eva Gore-Booth
Maria Edgeworth
Veronica Guerin
Geraldine Kennedy
Olivia O'Leary
Mary Raftery
Aine Lawlor
Andrea Corr
Niamh Kavanagh
Mary Balfour Herbert
Katherine Plunket
Dr. Margaret MacCurtain

Presumably because it was easier to pick whatever pop star was the MOST FAMOUS EVER than think about the terms of the contribution to Irish society.

In the eternal words of Paul Gogerty, FUCK YOU RTE, FUCK YOU.

Yay for posting a corrective list.
Tell me how Ronan Keating has a better catalogue than Sinead O'Connor.
The phallocentric list was more than disappointing.

Well FMC,if Stephen Gately is in the list then so should Samantha Mumba. Neither would make my list. Then again neither would Ronan Keating, Colin Farrell, Daniel O Donnell...
